Detective Mary Joe Court is a woman with a man’s name. She doesn’t know why her biological mother named her Joe, mostly because her biological mother isn’t part of her life. She’s a detective with a difficult past but a bright future. It’s reunion weekend at Waterford College in rural St. Augustine. Hundreds of alumni have come to rekindle old friendships and relive treasured memories on their alma mater’s grounds. But amidst the fun, a chilling discovery disrupts the festivities. In a classroom, a young woman's lifeless body lies, stabbed so many times it almost looks like an animal attack. No animal touched her, though. Her killer was all too human.
